"The Markese-Fumo Express" My good friend John Fumo is a world class trumpeter and musician, and we had decided to write/record some original jazz tunes that would pay homage to some of our favorite jazz giants of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. After finishing a couple of tunes, we became even more inspired to keep going in the hopes of creating an entire album. We were determined to do all of the parts ourselves rather than bring in additional/outside musicians. It took awhile to complete the 11 original tunes, but we finally released "File Under Kool" in 2020 under the artist name of "The Markese-Fumo Express". I'm very proud of the album and also of being able to partner with such an amazing talent as John. He helped make the project a very significant and important part of my life's musical journey.
Bernie, of Bernie Becker Mastering, Pasadena, CA
Bernie is a very close and dear friend of mine. His knowledge and engineering skills in regards to recording, mixing, and mastering audio are unsurpassable. I am very honored and proud to say that he has Mixed and Mastered all of the tracks on both the "File Under Kool" and the "Spirit Flows" albums. Bernie's finishing touches always make the recordings better than I could ever imagine or hope for! Bravo Bernie Becker!
Album Cover Art and Design When I needed cover art for the "File Under Kool" and the "Spirit Flows" albums, I asked my niece Gina, who happens to be a very talented artist, to come up with some abstract design ideas for me. She created an amazing original design for each of the albums, and I am now a very proud uncle to have her original artwork on them. I will soon be featuring more of her art right here on my Website! Thank you, Gina, for your wonderful contributions!
Liner Notes for "File Under Kool". Bill Cinque is another one of my closest friends. He is also a multi-talented, world class musician, vocalist, composer, writer/novelist, producer, and a Certified Hypnotist. When we needed Liner Notes for the "File Under Kool" album, I asked Bill if he would write something for us in the style/genre/era of the album. He gladly accepted and came up with a brilliant blurb written in the bebop jargon (jive) of the time period that we were paying tribute to. Thank you "B-5"!
Video Concept and Production for the "Spirit Flows" album. Larry has been a long-time friend and colleague of mine for the past 50+ years. He also happens to be a world class trombonist and musician! What I didn't know about him is that he also has a natural gift for creating amazing music videos! When he heard some of the songs from my "Spirit Flows" album, he asked if he could 'experiment a little' by adding some photos/video clips to the music. I gladly agreed, and what he came up with was absolutely incredible! His 'film vision' for the music is fabulous! We now have 3 music videos from the "Spirit Flows" album, and there are more to come! Thank you, Mr. McCabe!
